Ciprofloxacin Removal Using Pillared Clays

In this work, Ti-pillared bentonites were evaluated to remove ciprofloxacin (CIP) from the aqueous solution. Pillared sodium bentonite (BSP) and pillared calcium (BCP) prepared by means of sol–gel method using titanium tetraisopropoxide with calcination for 3 h at 500 °C. They characterized BET N2 adsorption, subjected X-ray diffraction Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The results show that surface area increased after process, more than natural ones. has a porous structure, larger areas, higher adsorption capacity bentonite. kinetic onto is well described pseudo second-order model. BSP isotherm fitted Freundlich model, while BCP fits model better, suggesting multilayer adsorption. DR shows mostly physical CIP on two adsorbents. pH influence study indicated adsorbed between 6 8, which facilitates use in wastewater treatment, whose generally oscillates these ranges.
